Frith Street Gallery

Erskine were asked to redesign and rebuild the website for the renowned Frith Street Gallery, now based just behind Piccadilly Circus in central London, and today we finally launched it.
The challenge was to produce a minimal design with carefully chosen typography, marrying this to very complex back-end making use of numerous relational links between artists, exhibitions, works and so on.

Since opening in 1989 Frith Street Gallery has developed a programme of exhibitions by artists working in a wide range of media from drawing and painting to film, video and installation. The gallery currently represents a group of 22 artists from Britain and abroad as well as collaborating with others on specific projects.

We made WallSwaps for ourselves. Its just a bit of fun really - a chance to play with some slightly loony navigation ideas and get people to send us lots of cool stuff in replace for a smashing Erskine birdie badge. Go take a look…

It is generally a really easy way to get our little birdie logo in as many places as possible, and gives you the chance to be featured (including a link) on our wall, for all time. Just send us some stuff - any stuff - and we’ll send you a badge and put your stuff on our wall. It’s an internet swap-shop!

Note” Best viewed on Safari or Firefox at present - that pesky Internet Explorer is just too out of date.

CSR360 and ENGAGE

Erskine are proud to have recently launched the ambitious CSR360 Global Partner Network and ENGAGE websites to a host of invited guests from around the globe at Freshfields in London.
These huge projects have been an incredibly rewarding challenge for the team and also the secretriat itself (Business In The Community).

CSR360 Global Partner Network is a network of independent organisations that work at the interface of Business and Society to mobilise business for good. The creation of the network was the inspiration of Henk Kinds (CPC Netherlands), Michael Tuffrey (Corporate Citizenship) and David Halley (Business in the Community) 10 years ago.

Business in the Community (BITC) convenes this network that currently comprises 100 partner organisations from 60 different countries around the world.

ENGAGE is an international programme that brings together businesses and community organisations around the globe to increase the quality and amount of employee involvement in their local communities.

During the last year, ENGAGE have been facilitating a European research project looking into employee engagement and how it can help disadvantaged groups improve their skills for employability. Visit the Skills for Employability page to find out more.

We’re delighted to be working with The Green Parent magazine, to redevelop their existing website and establish a stronger online community and balance between online and offline magazine. Exactly the kind of stuff we love doing.

Our ticket app is now in beta!

Our new Erskine Support Ticket system, fully integrated with Basecamp, launches to our clients today, and forms a major part of our new “client service charter”. Read on for a couple of preview screens and a video.

We love the Basecamp project management system - have done for years - but it lacks a few key features, such as ticketing. Our main goal therefore is to ensure all those client requests are easily categorized as Bug, Feature or Request. This naturally translates easily into work for invoicing, work on contract, work for future phases etc.

We know there are a few existing Basecamp-integrated ticket tools, but we think this one (designed to cope with demanding client teams on large or small projects) has that little something extra that will make it helpful to any serious agencies or freelancers out there. Therefore, we may well release this publicly in the near future. Stay tuned!

Shackleton Centenary redesign

We just launched a redesign for the Shackleton Centenary Expedition. In 2008-09 the team intend to follow in their ancestors’ footsteps, and recreate the 1909 Nimrod Expedition, originally intended to be the first mission to the South Pole.
Erskine were contracted to work with the client’s chosen CMS (Movable Type) and rework much of the site content, but specifically we looked at incorporating the client’s “must have” visual and content elements into a new and more thoughtful redesign.

Triton Oceanic is a new underwater exploration company formed by a group of accomplished and sometimes headstrong individuals, coming together with a singular goal, to explore the world’s oceans and live those adventures. Just the kind of web job we love here at Erskine.

Yesterday, four members of the Erskine team (Phil, Greg, Glen and old man Colly) completed the Great Notts Bike Ride 50 mile route; cycling to Newark, then back to Nottingham into brutal headwinds that nearly killed us. So far we’ve raised over £1,000 for various charities. Our pain is captured in the GNBR Flickr set.
